The Sceptres (pop)

The Sceptres formed in Montreal, Quebec in 1959 and recorded and toured through the 1960s. Performed from Ontario to Newfoundland and down the Eastern Coast of the United States. They recorded for 5 Canadian Record Companies: Fi-Sound, RCA International, Allied, Alliance, and Polydor. The Sceptres had one # 1 English Record in Eastern Canada “I Never Had A Love Like That”, and two Top 30 singles with “Something’s Coming Along” and “Juicy Morning.” They band split up in 1969; Marty Butler would go on to a substantial solo career; Bill Ott would become an executive at A & M and then Polygram Records. - Jaimie Vernon, The Canadian Pop Music Encyclopedia
