Upright (jazz rock, fusion)

Quebec jazz band Upright was formed in 1996 by Benoit Verdant (drums) and Eric Martin (bass). The twosome hooked up with Bernard Baribeau (sax) and Eric St-Jean (keyboards) and then the band hit an active phase were a demo was recorded and numerous live performances were given. But following an active summer season they decided to call it quits for creative reasons as well as the practical demands of life for each band member. In 2003 Eric Martin decided to revive this project. Half of the original members were unavailable though, but with fresh personell enlisted a new album was recorded, officially released through Canadian label Unicorn Records in 2004.
